Fatal Hit & Run Accident in Detroit

There was a story in the news today about a fatal hit & run accident in Detroit last night. According to the Detroit Police, a man left a party on Robson near Glendale on the Northwest side of Detroit when, while waiting to cross the street, a Ford Escort allegedly swerved to hit him. He was rushed to a local hospital where he later died. Police are still investigating this accident and encourage anyone with any information that can help in the investigation to contact them.

I am very sorry to hear about this tragic car accident and wish my most heart-felt condolences to the family of the pedestrian for their loss.

Our Michigan car accident lawyers advise accident victims of their legal rights. For this type of auto accident in Michigan, the family members of the deceased victim may be able to make a claim for Survivor Loss Benefits.  This can include payment of funeral expenses, lost wages, and loss of other services.

If the driver’s identity is not discovered, the pedestrian’s family still has rights under the law. They may be able to file an uninsured motorists claim against their own insurance policy or another insurance policy to receive the Survivor Loss Benefits.

In addition, the injury victims may be able to file a lawsuit against the persons determined to be at fault in the auto accident. The insurance company for the driver must still cover any injuries. In this lawsuit, any injured parties and the family of the deceased victims can claim damages and compensation for injuries suffered in the accident.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case.

Also, the family members of the deceased victim may have a claim for a Michigan wrongful death lawsuit against the driver that police determine was negligent. At the very least, the surviving family should hire the best possible lawyer to look into these possibilities.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victim with this type of claim.  Accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.

Detroit Hit & Run Fatality

I read tragic story today about a Detroit Hit & Run Fatality that involved a 13-year-old victim and was caught on a surveillance video. According to Detroit Police, the surveillance video allegedly shows the 13-year-old boy walking near Grand River and Mettetal when he was struck by a white mini-van that drove off without stopping. The boy was taken to Children’s Hospital with serious injuries and died at the hospital from significant brain damage.

My sincerest condolences go out to the family of the boy for this tragic loss.

Detroit Hit & Run Motorcycle Accident Lawyer

I read a tragic story today about Detroit hit and run motorcycle accident that has resulted in the death of the 40 year old biker.  Rochelle Ringo was travelling on Gratiot when a van apparently made an improper turn in her path.  She was unable to avoid the van and struck it.  The driver of the van left the scene of the accident.

My thoughts and condolences go out to her family.  It is a terrible shame that the driver sped off without taking responsibility for the accident and did not stay to see if she was okay.  I certainly hope the Detroit police locate the vehicle and charge the driver with a crime.

Because this motorcycle accident involved contact with another vehicle, the family of the biker may be able to make a Survivor’s Loss Claim under the Michigan No-Fault Laws.  They may also be able to pursue an Uninsured Motorists Claim if that coverage is available.  It is important that the family contact an experienced Detroit motorcycle accident lawyer to explore all of their legal rights.
