Detroit Areas Highest Car Accident Areas

A report in today’s Detroit Free Press listed the Detroit areas eight highest car accident areas.  The number of accidents in these areas is primarily due to high traffic volume, which undoubtedly leads to more car accidents.  It is hopeful that these county road commissions can implement more safety measures, like the number of traffic signals, to reduce the number of car accidents.

In Wayne County, the highest car accident areas are:

*Livonia and Northville, between 6 Mile and Fox Drive off of Haggerty.  This has been a high volume traffic area for many years due to schools and businesses in the corridor.

In Oakland County, the location for the most car accidents are:

*In Waterford, the area on M-59 between Airport Road and Dundee Road due to high traffic.  New traffic signals have been put in to help reduce the number of car accidents.

*In Novi, westbound I-96 at Novie Road and the Novi Road exti ramp has had a high number of car accidents.

In Macomb County, the highest number of car accidents occur at:

*In Clinton Township, on Garfield Road between 19 Mile and Hall Road there are two places that have a high rate of car accidents.

*On Mound Road, between 11 Mile and 12 Mile Road, there are a high number of car accidents because this is a busy area with numerous businesses.

Pedestrian Killed on M-59 in Auburn Hills

I came across a tragic story in the news today about a pedestrian killed on M-59 in Auburn Hills on Friday. According to Auburn Hills Police, a driver of a 2003 Buick Century allegedly hit a pedestrian on M-59, between I-75 and Squirrel Road, causing him to fall into the road, where he was subsequently hit by several other vehicles. Police are still investigating the accident at this time.

I  am very sorry to hear about this tragic accident and affer the family of the pedestrian my most heart-felt condolences.

Our Michigan car accident lawyers advise accident victims of their legal rights. For this type of accident, the family members of the deceased pedestrian may be able to make a claim for Survivor Loss Benefits.  This can include payment of funeral expenses, lost wages, and loss of other services.

In addition, the family of the car accident injury victim may also have claims for personal injuries against any driver determined to be at fault in this auto accident.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case. In this lawsuit, the family of the injured victim can claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident.

Also, the family members of the deceased pedestrian may have a claim for a Michigan wrongful death lawsuit against the driver that police determine was negligent and caused this accident. At the very least, the surviving family should hire the best possible lawyer to look into these possibilities.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victim with this type of claim.  Accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.
