Additionally, for this type of auto accident in Michigan, the family members of the deceased 12-year-old boy may be able to make a claim for Survivor Loss Benefits. This can include payment of funeral expenses, lost wages, and loss of other services.

In addition, the injury victims may be able to file a lawsuit against the persons determined to be at fault in auto accident. The insurance company for the driver must still cover any injuries. In this lawsuit, the injured parties and the family of the deceased victim can claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident. The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case.

Also, the family members of the deceased 12-year-old boy may have a claim for a Michigan wrongful death lawsuit against the driver that police determine was negligent and caused this accident. Another possible claim for anyone injured by the alleged drunk driver would be a potential Michigan dram shop case against the seller or furnisher of the  alcohol before the accident. At the very least, the surviving family and injured parties should hire the best possible lawyer to look into these possibilities.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victim with this type of claim. Accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.

Detroit Areas Highest Car Accident Areas

A report in today’s Detroit Free Press listed the Detroit areas eight highest car accident areas.  The number of accidents in these areas is primarily due to high traffic volume, which undoubtedly leads to more car accidents.  It is hopeful that these county road commissions can implement more safety measures, like the number of traffic signals, to reduce the number of car accidents.

In Wayne County, the highest car accident areas are:

*Livonia and Northville, between 6 Mile and Fox Drive off of Haggerty.  This has been a high volume traffic area for many years due to schools and businesses in the corridor.

In Oakland County, the location for the most car accidents are:

*In Waterford, the area on M-59 between Airport Road and Dundee Road due to high traffic.  New traffic signals have been put in to help reduce the number of car accidents.

*In Novi, westbound I-96 at Novie Road and the Novi Road exti ramp has had a high number of car accidents.

In Macomb County, the highest number of car accidents occur at:

*In Clinton Township, on Garfield Road between 19 Mile and Hall Road there are two places that have a high rate of car accidents.

*On Mound Road, between 11 Mile and 12 Mile Road, there are a high number of car accidents because this is a busy area with numerous businesses.
